Story
Since its opening in 1985, the House of Bread and Peace has given women and children a comfortable, safe place to begin healing the wounds of homelessness and building foundations for successful lives.
As homelessness in Evansville has increased so have the services of House of Bread and Peace. The House provides shelter, food, and advocacy to meet the basic needs of our residents and to support them in setting and achieving their goals.
Residents are treated with respect and dignity regardless of race, religion, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, or political belief.
With over 400 people homeless each night in Evansville, the House rarely has an empty bed. The need is great. We cannot provide the services that we offer without the help of the community. Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated!
