Dear Friends and Family,

We want to share the meaningful impact Giving Voice Foundation has had on our lives during our ongoing journey with Alzheimer's disease. We are so grateful for the personal, ongoing support this local non-profit has provided to us every step of the way. Their team has made such a difference for us and we want everyone to know the contribution this valuable organization is making in our Greater Cincinnati community.

From the beginning, our advisor, Kristin (Program Director), has helped us navigate the challenges we faced while keeping Todd safely at home for the first four years. Not only did we receive an in-depth assessment and practical advice, but also regular affirmation that we were doing all we could to surround Todd with love and the right resources so he could lead a fulfilling life in spite of this devastating disease. It was such a relief to know we were not alone.

The Giving Voice Foundation also provided guidance for us as we made the challenging choice to move Todd into residential care. They have advised us as we make difficult decisions in managing his care as the disease progresses. More recently they have helped us understand when to bring in hospice support.

Our journey continues and we know we will be able to call on their expertise for whatever the future holds. Our focus now for Todd is comfort, love, peace and dignity. We are incredibly grateful for the small joys everyday life brings us during the time we have left with this remarkable and courageous man.

Todd has always been fiercely dedicated to his family and to the practice of medicine. Just as important to him has been serving the community and assisting others wherever he is able. He never thinks twice about jumping in to help... that's just what Habels do. We roll up our sleeves and get to work! So, thank you for joining us in doing just that.

Todd and Maureen Habel

Todd was diagnosed with early-age onset Alzheimer's Disease in November 2021 at the young age of 57. He retired from medical practice immediately afterwards. Todd lived with his wife, Maureen, at home until December 2025 when he moved into residential care here in Cincinnati. There he is surrounded everyday by expert medical professionals and caregivers, as well as the love and daily attention of dedicated friends and family.
