The Hospital de la Familia (HdlF) Foundation delivers life-changing care in rural Guatemala by providing funding and resources to support the Hospital de la Familia in Nuevo Progreso, San Marcos. Programs include a state-of-the-art vision care center, a general medical and surgical program, child nutrition and maternal health programs, audiology, speech and physical therapy, a dental clinic, and more.

Founded in 1976, HdlF is one of the finest medical centers in Guatemala, treating over 20,000 patients per year. No patient is ever turned away for inability to pay. With 120 local staff, HdlF is the largest employer in an impoverished area with limited job opportunities.

Emphasizing partnership and education between the volunteer Guatemalan and US surgical teams, HdlF Foundation focuses on strengthening the abilities of local surgeons and doctors (most of whom are women!) with exchange programs and training. HdlF is known as a supportive environment for women surgeons and physicians, and the care for the patients is second to none.
