Story
More than 100 people from all over the world joined us for our 2nd Annual Evening for Healing and Hope, celebrating and supporting the life-transforming healing and hope women and girls receive at Terrewode Women's Community Hospital in Soroti, Uganda.
Together, we have raised more than $70,000 so far, including many offline pledges, with more donations pouring in.
Every gift moves us closer to our goal of raising $120,000—enough to cover the cost of surgery, post-operative care, physical therapy, counseling, and comprehensive reintegration support for 100 women.
Watch and share the recording of the event to learn about one woman's harrowing journey with obstetric fistula—a devastating childbirth injury that's been eradicated across most of the world, but still afflicts many women in rural communities like those served by Terrewode Women's Community Hospital.
One of two films that premiered at our event features Grace Akiteng, a fistula survivor who shares her powerful story of resilience and renewal. Grace endured the same and isolation of obstetric fistula for more than a decade after nearly dying in childbirth and losing her baby, like more than 90 percent of women do during the prolonged and obstructed labor that causes fistula.
A gift of $1,200 gives one woman the comprehensive and holistic care
she needs to heal from obstetric fistula, rediscover dignity,
and restore hope for a brighter future.
Since 2019, Terrewode Women's Community Hospital has helped more than 800 women like Grace begin their journey of healing and hope. Our deepest gratitude to everyone who makes those journeys possible by supporting Terrewode Women's Fund.
