In October 2024, The Heart Revival partnered with Milwaukee NGO The Cam Fund to create a karma (service-based) yoga retreat in which attendees volunteered at ABCs and Rice. And now another retreat is on the horizon - November 2026! We hope to keep this Heart-to-Heart connection with Cambodia and ABCs and Rice alive for years to come.

ABCs and Rice, a non-government organization (NGO) in Siem Reap, Cambodia, combats poverty and child labor through supporting increased school attendance. Established in 2010, the school provides comprehensive support for underprivileged children and their families. Its unique approach combines education in English and Khmer with reverse-tuition food programs and holistic well-being initiatives, empowering students and fostering a brighter future for the entire community.

Vision: ABCs (Abolishing Boundaries in Cambodia) and Rice empowers the poor to break the cycle of poverty.

Mission: We aim to activate global awareness and resources to support those trapped in poverty, by initiating and operating effective community projects. Our focus is on educating children in their native culture and English literacy, while nurturing their physical and psychological well-being.

KEY STRATEGIES: ABCs and Rice focuses on three main tactics to achieve the vision and mission.

Education: Serving about 250 students aged 4 to 16 at our English-based school, we also provide scholarships for over 90 students to attend Khmer Public School and a handful of students each year for post-secondary education or vocational training.

Food Security and Nutrition: Our Breakfast and Lunch Club offer two nutritious meals daily to students and their siblings, while our Reverse Tuition program supplies over 2,000 kilos of rice parcels to families monthly. Our well and filtration system serves up over 50,000 litres of clean water each week to the surrounding community.

Community Support: Our students and their families receive holistic care and multi-tiered support as an extension of our ABCs family. Services include medical care, seed loans and sponsorship during financial crisis. Our extended ABCs family includes critical support to over 1,200 community members.
