Every day, Black LGBTQ+ immigrants arrive in the United States seeking what everyone deserves: safety, dignity, and the chance to rebuild a life free from fear. Too often, instead, they are met with isolation, detention and deportation, homelessness, legal barriers, and systems that were never designed to protect them.

BDLI was created to fill in the gap.

Our work is rooted in lived experience. Many of our members including our leadership have fled persecution, navigated displacement, and survived systems that attempt to silence us. That reality shapes every program we offer, every resource we provide, and every community space we build.

As we close out the year, BDLI is raising critical funds to ensure Black LGBTQ+ immigrants across the country can access life-affirming support from emergency housing, mental health care, and legal assistance, to leadership development and community-organizing programs that honor who they are.

Your donation will go towards:

Providing mental health resources to Black LGBTQ+ immigrants struggling with displacement, isolation, and trauma.
Support our members to participate in advocacy campaigns to champion immigrant LGBTQ+ rights within our local communities and beyond.
Provide refreshments for our support groups/membership meetings specifically tailored to the needs of Black LGBTQ+ immigrants
Providing vital assistance to those currently detained in U.S. immigration detention centers, such as legal assistance/representation, commissary support, visitation, letter writing etc.
Supporting Black LGBTQ+ migrants with asylum and work authorization applications.
Roundtrip MetroCards/MARTA Cards for members.
