Give the Gift of Dignity: Sponsor YMCA Memberships for Our Guests

Last year, thanks to the generosity of our community, we launched a Giving Tuesday campaign to provide YMCA memberships for OBX Room in the Inn guests after our shelter season ended. The impact was immediate and profound. Guests used the pool, exercised, showered regularly, and—maybe most importantly—had a safe, welcoming place to go during the day. The program offered more than amenities; it offered dignity, routine, and a sense of belonging.

Because this effort was so successful, we are bringing it back again this year.

The OBX Room in the Inn season runs from November 1, 2025 to April 30, 2026. Throughout these months, we work closely with our guests to prepare them for a stable and successful transition once the shelter closes for the summer. But for individuals with limited income and few resources, that transition is incredibly challenging. One of the greatest obstacles they face is access to showers—a basic need that becomes difficult to maintain without support, yet is essential for hygiene, health, employment, and self-confidence.

A YMCA membership may seem simple, but for someone experiencing homelessness, it can be life-changing.

It provides:

Daily access to showers
Safe, climate-controlled spaces
Workout facilities that support physical and mental health
A welcoming community environment
A dignified place to be during the day
