Cardboard Regatta and Pool Float Race - All Ages Event!!!

Compete in a 2 person cardboard regatta float race or race on a provided large 2 person float. FEES: • $25 fee per 2 person boat or 2 person float • $100 entry per corporate entry. TEAMS & RACING FORMAT FOR CARDBOARD REGATTA: • Teams consist of 2 members who must be in the boat. • If a team member is unable to swim or not a strong swimmer, then they must provide their own Personal Flotation Devise (PFD). A swim test may be requested at any time. • Race will begin at approximately 3:00 p.m. • Race must begin and end with the 2 person crew intact in the boat. • Swimming and/or pulling the boat will result in disqualification. • Races will be timed to determine overall winner with fastest speed, but we really want people just to have fun!!! • Two oars will be provided per boat. • Unique Boat Designs and Costumes are encouraged. • Awards will be presented for: fastest time, best design, best sinking, and awards at judge’s discretion. BOAT DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION: • Boats must be made ONLY of cardboard and duct tape. NO reinforced cardboard tubes, no liners, no tarps or coated cardboard. • Cardboard cannot be sealed. • Boats must be made BEFORE THE RACE and will be inspected by judges. • Boats may be a maximum width of 4ft and a maximum length of 7ft. • Boats must be completely enclosed, or permit the crew to remain fully on top of the vessel (no legs & feet can be used to propel your boat). No raft or surfboard styles. • Boats must be propelled by the use of paddles only. • The boat’s passenger area must not be enclosed above the occupant’s shoulders, so not to interfere with escape should the vessel begin to sink. • Boat design is left to the builder’s imagination. • Teams are not allowed to reinforce or adjust their boat in any way after the event has begun. • There will be a pre-race inspection, if any illegal items are discovered, the boat will be disqualified. **ANY RULE NOT SPECIFICALLY COVERED ABOVE WILL BE LEFT TO THE DISCRETION OF THE JUDGES** 2200 N Oakley Ave, Chicago, IL 60647, USA
