Drop Site contributor Huda Skaik is a young Palestinian journalist in Gaza.

Since the genocide began, she has written more than 70 articles published internationally at outlets including The Nation, Al Jazeera, The Intercept, Drop Site News, Middle East Eye and many more, as well as producing video reports and documentaries.

We need to raise $50,000 by Wednesday, September 23 support her journey to University of London.

Huda has secured an unconditional offer for a scholarship at a London University to study Journalism, entering directly into her second year. The university has advised us that the full funding needs to be secured for Huda to meet the financial requirements of the UK Visa Immigration process. We need to do this by Wednesday 23 September. This means, we need to raise the remaining $50,000 of a total approximately $116,000 total costs to fund Huda’s remaining two years of study and living costs, together with her visa, evacuation and travel.

A message from Huda:

My university has recognized both my academic record and my exceptional circumstances. I need financial help to make it possible for me to leave Gaza and begin my studies.

My passport is ready. The opportunity to study is there. Funding is now the main barrier standing between me and evacuation and enrollment.

The money raised will help cover the costs of evacuation and travel from Gaza, university-related expenses that are not covered by scholarships, accommodation and living costs in the UK, as well as the basic expenses I will need to establish myself safely and begin my studies.

I am not asking for help simply to attend university. I am asking for the chance to continue telling stories, studying journalism and using my work to make sure the experiences of people in Gaza are heard. I'm asking to survive and continue my education, and to build a future beyond the circumstances I was born into.
