Feed a child, change a life this Hunger Action Month!

September is Hunger Action Month, and we’re raising funds to provide meals for children facing hunger in southwest Missouri! Your donations to our Hunger Action Month campaign will support Ozarks Food Harvest’s Weekend Backpack Program, which sends kids home with a bag of meals and snacks every weekend of the school year. This life-saving program serves nearly 1,800 children every week. We need your help to keep it going.

In southwest Missouri, 1 in 4 children face hunger. No child should have to go a single day without food, but many kids rely on school meals as their main source of nutrition. When school lets out for the weekend, they’re not looking forward to a break — they’re worried about a weekend without food.

You can sponsor a Weekend Backpack child for an entire school year for just $30 a month, or $360 a year. Your gift will fill a child’s backpack with nutritious, kid-friendly food items like fruit & vegetable cups, shelf-stable milk, cereal, chicken salad, soups and more every weekend so they don’t have to wonder if there will be food at home.

Nine-year-old Leo shared how the Weekend Backpack Program makes a difference for him. He said, “I am thankful because I get food that can feed my family, and the vegetables I eat make me healthy.
