This year marks a special milestone for the Freedom Center for Social Justice. Join us as we come together for a night of celebration, inspiration, and action at our annual ICONIC Fundraiser & Gala. With the theme of “Kaleidoscope of Change,” we will honor 5 individuals who have made a significant impact in the social justice arena, while celebrating our 15-year anniversary as a catalyst for equity and justice across North Carolina and beyond.

Our theme Kaleidoscope of Change reflects the vibrant, multifaceted movements for justice that our community has championed over the past decade and a half. Like the shifting colors and patterns of a kaleidoscope, the fight for social justice requires many perspectives, actions, and voices coming together to create lasting impact.

From LGBTQ+ equality and racial justice to economic empowerment and faith-based activism, this gala celebrates the diversity of thought and action that makes change possible. As we gather in unity, we honor five outstanding individuals who have driven progress in their communities, each contributing a vital piece to the ever-evolving mosaic of justice.

Together, we’re creating a kaleidoscope of change—one action at a time.

As an organization, we are committed to leaning into our growing edges, and getting clearer about what is uniquely ours to do. We want to grow in the direction of our community’s needs. We are okay with evolving — we know that as the world changes, our vision and strategies will inevitably change alongside it.

We believe each person is capable of making significant, lasting change in the lives of people around them. As such, we empower people to be effective leaders in culture-shift, the process of changing culture (the outlook, attitudes, values, morals, goals, and customs shared by a society) away from oppression and towards liberation.
We collaborate with other social-justice organizations to advance the cause of justice, equality and protections for LGBTQ people and the marginalized, centering those who are BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, or People of Color), elder, and/or youth. We envision a world in which all people are able to reach their full potential as human beings, regardless of their varied identities.
We celebrate the fullness of our humanity by working intentionally at the intersections of race, sexual orientation, gender identity, faith, age and class.
