Rosetta’s has been dedicated to being a force for good since we first opened over twenty years ago, in 2002. We’ve cooked for our community through many challenging and joyful experiences, but nothing has been as hard on us, or our beautiful mountains, as Hurricane Helene.
Realizing we were one of few places with electricity and WiFi, as well as large food stores and a brave dedicated crew, we put aside all of our own personal crisis, and started cooking everything we could, for everyone we could, using our precious small amounts of fuel to carry jugs and buckets of water from safe sources outside of the city on September 30th. It was heroic and we made joyful work of adapting our skills and space rapidly. Soon there’s was a flow of food from other restaurants and grocery stores flowing in, no one wanted food to just rot, and we went from around 150 meals a day to hitting nearly 1,000. it was challenging. We did this until there was enough other larger groups on the ground to take over we then shut down for a couple weeks to get our own personal lives and homes more settled ,or at least washed of mud and cleaned of mold
We now are ready to get back to work, the water is on, and we exist to serve. It’s time to start back at it.
many large agencies and nonprofits are beginning to pull back resources. We know the winter will be extra difficult for many this winter. We’re asking for your support to help us be able to both reopen our business, and continue as we always have, to offer free meals to anyone in need of one, regardless of means.
