Interfaith Works (IW) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit located in Montgomery County, MD, that supports our neighbors in need by providing access to vital services and a pathway to greater stability. While Montgomery County, a part of the Washington, DC, metropolitan area, is considered affluent, more than 68,000 residents live on incomes below the Federal poverty line. To help meet the needs of this community, IW provides emergency shelter, supportive housing, essential needs, and employment programs to over 35,000 residents throughout the county, every year.

The IW Faith & Community Partnerships Program (FCP) aims to support IW’s mission through deepening and facilitating connections with local faith-based organizations and faith homes.

FCP works to increase community engagement with all Interfaith Works programs through volunteerism, advocacy, and financial or in-kind giving.

By spearheading IW’s volunteering program, FCP helps to feed thousands of residents in the IW shelter and housing system, provides activities in shelters, and keeps the Essential Needs Center humming with volunteers and donations.

FCP leads bi-monthly Community Conversations as part of their growing advocacy work, educating the public about the needs of not only our clients, but all under-resourced communities throughout Montgomery County.
