We fell in love with the people of Ciudadela Sucre—11 neighborhoods dotting the hills of the city of Soacha outside of Bogota, Colombia. On our first trip, in 2013 as international volunteers with Habitat for Humanity Colombia, we improved the homes of three families and paved a steep road, strenuous work at an altitude of 9,000 feet. Since then we have helped 11 families secure an adequate place to live, constructed a cancha—a multi-purpose athletic facility, and built two other pocket parks with playgrounds.

In 2019, Habitat for Humanity International decided to close its Colombia office. Desiring to continue working alongside our friends in Ciudadela Sucre, we formed our own non-profit—Building Trust Americas. We are registered in the United States as a non-profit and have tax exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the US Internal Revenue Code.

We are providing emergency food relief to our friends in Ciudadela Sucre and ask for your help.

With the Covid-19 pandemic the residents are not able to make it to their jobs, if the jobs even still exist, and they have no unemployment benefits.

Currently we are partnering with Techo, a nonprofit in 19 Latin American countries, to provide food packs for the neediest families in the communities. A donation of only $10 can help provide food for a family. Thank you for continuing to share your bounty with the wonderful people of Colombia.
