Ray Carbonell was a born and raised Vermonter and a proud BUHS alum who graduated in 1963. He played football and played in the annual Shrine Bowl all-star football game. Ray went on to graduate from Northeastern University and earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Suffolk University.

Ray was an entrepreneur at heart, and he excelled as a businessman. After many years of building relationships and other businesses he founded Cocoplum Appliances in Brattleboro, VT in 1985. Cocoplum now has two more locations: Keene, NH and Essex Jct., VT and employs almost 30 people. Ray was extremely proud of the business and the many employees who he considered part of his extended family.
