Why Are Our Young People Still Struggling?
Why are so many of our young people still facing challenges with literacy, self-esteem, leadership, and social development?
There are countless reasons — and like me, I’m sure you have your own thoughts. But here’s the truth: no one has all the answers. Especially when we’re talking about students in inner-city schools, Title I schools, or community-based programs. These schools are stretched far too thin, and our young people face countless barriers before and after they even step foot in a classroom.
Yet we keep saying, “They just need to do better.”
The reality is, they can — but only if we create opportunities for them to thrive.
As the founder of this organization, this mission is deeply personal to me. I was one of those young people. I struggled academically and didn’t learn how to read until 9th grade. Not because I wasn’t smart, but because no one — not my family, not my coaches, not even my community — ever asked how I was doing in school. It was as if my education didn’t matter.
So I know, firsthand, what it feels like to be overlooked. And while today’s young people may face different circumstances, the core issue remains the same — we’ve been fighting this battle for decades.
That’s why I’ve made it my mission to ensure that every young person — especially the ones who don’t get labeled “gifted,” who aren’t on reading level, who don’t fit the mold — has access to the support, experiences, and exposure they need to lead, grow, and believe in their future.
But I can’t do this alone.
Yes, my story is powerful, but this work requires much more than motivation. It takes consistency, dedication, and resources. That’s where you come in.
As someone in my network — whether you're a colleague, friend, or supporter — I’m asking you to give. Not a specific amount, just what you can, consistently. Because we both know: consistency creates change.

If you want to read better, you read every day.
If you want to get stronger, you work out consistently.
And if we want to change the trajectory for young people — we need consistent support.
Your monthly gift will help us provide mentorship, leadership training, academic support, and character development for youth who need it most.
Together, we can make sure they’re not overlooked — but instead, uplifted.
Thank you for being part of this mission.
