Piedmont CASA is a 501(c)3 non-profit agency founded in 2000. Our program serves abused and neglected children in Jackson, Banks, and Barrow Counties by providing them with a screened, trained, and supported community volunteer who advocates for them in juvenile court proceedings. These children have often been victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse, medical neglect, and physical abuse. CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates and our program is affiliated with the State and National CASA programs. The CASA supports and Advocates for the best interest of the child through their entire time in the system. CASA brings urgency to the child’s needs, both in and out of the courtroom, and promotes safety, permanency, and well-being through independent recommendations. The CASA volunteers provide children with someone who cares for them and provides them with consistent support in this tumultuous time in their lives. Since its inception, Piedmont CASA has served over 1400 child victims and trained over 370 CASA volunteers. Our Program includes six full time staff, who support around 75 CASA volunteers each year, who are then able to change the stories of around 200 children in foster care!
