Itineris is a non-profit that serves, supports, and empowers autistic adults.

In 2006, nine families faced a daunting question: What would happen to their children once they aged out of the school system? Their search for answers revealed a troubling truth: there were no specialized services for autistic adults in the Baltimore City/County area.

Additional questions of how these young adults would be supported as they transition into adulthood went unanswered. Out of this challenge, Itineris was born.

Nearly two decades later, the vision of those families, professionals, and self-advocates has become a thriving reality. Today, Itineris proudly supports nearly 200 autistic adults. The founders’ mission remains at the heart of everything we do: helping autistic adults maintain and expand the skills they developed in school, while pursuing new opportunities for learning, growth, and independence.

Over time, Itineris has evolved into a comprehensive, person-centered program dedicated to building meaningful lives and achieving goals for autistic individuals. It remains one of the few agencies in Maryland exclusively serving autistic adults, a testament to our unwavering commitment to this growing and underrepresented community.

Our low 1:1 to 1:4 staff-to-adult ratio ensures that every individual is supported, valued, and recognized for their unique strengths and talents. At Itineris, we empower autistic adults to live fulfilling lives across their lifespan, with dignity, choice, and the opportunity to participate fully in their communities.
