You're invited to a bioblitz!

Accept the challenge! Help us find and identify as many species as possible across our wetland on one fun Saturday morning. If you can find a wild animal or plant and take a picture of it, you can participate as a bioblitz observer!

Why bioblitz? Bioblitzes are great ways to get outdoors, connect with the environment, generate useful data for science and conservation, and help us inventory the plants and animals at JBS. Your participation as a member of the public is what separates bioblitzes from traditional biological inventories conducted by scientists.

Bioblitzing is easy with the very cool iNaturalist app. iNaturalist makes it easy for everyone to record and count bioblitz observations. Download the iNaturalist app onto your phone and practice using it before the fun chaos of the bioblitz. Here's how to get started with iNaturalist. iNaturalist and Seek by iNaturalist are both completely free to use. There are no subscriptions or paywalls. Careful! It's easy to download a commercial app by mistake.

You'll be bioblitzing with 2026 FIFA World Cup staffers and with cities all over the world! Dallas will host nine World Cup matches next summer and be an international operational hub for the most widely viewed sporting event in the world. The bioblitz is part of a series of events to give World Cup workers opportunities to be out in nature around Dallas-Fort Worth. The FIFA World Cup is the most widely viewed sporting event in the world and preparations are already underway. The bioblitz will also be part of the City Nature Challenge weekend, a global science phenomenon when citizen scientists around the world collaborate to share observations in nature.
