Thank you to everyone who participated. It was a great day and funded the scholarship for a few more years. We will absolutely be doing this again next year and already have more teams that would like to join.

Congratulations to team "Cheatalot" for their Championship win!!

Including cash, Venmo and credit card at the event we raised $2,288. We had $5,135 in registrations and donations on the tournament website. Over the last year the scholarship website raised $3,165 in individual donations.

Minus about $2,300 in expenses, we made just under $10,000 over the last year. $2,000 will go to this year's winner.

That leaves about $8,000 to sustain the scholarship for a few more years!

We will definitely be doing this again next year so check back for updates and when registration opens.

In 2020, Jake Thomas Williams died by suicide at the age of 24.

Mental health services and suicide prevention are vital fields that can save thousands of lives every year. Therefore, it is important to have effective mental health workers who can provide these crucial services. Jake's family seeks to honor him by encouraging the fields of mental health assistance and suicide prevention.

To help others like Jake, the Williams Family will support students who want to make an impact in the mental health field.

This wiffle ball tournament will help provide funds for the Jake Thomas Williams Memorial Scholarship.

Wiffle Ball Tournament Structure:

Teams of 3-5 players
Base running
Base Paths: 40 to 45 feet
Pitching Distance: 36 to 42 feet from home plate to the pitching rubber
Outfield Fence/Distance: 75 to 100 feet from home plate. We will have cones to indicate out of bounds.

THE GAME

The maximum number of players that can compete are ten – five players to a side. If a full team is playing, each side will consist of a catcher, pitcher, double area fielder, triple area fielder and home run area fielder. Fielders cannot move from one area to another when a full team is playing.

The rules of play for our tournament:

In the interest of time, we will play 30 minutes or 6 innings, whichever comes first.
Regular 3 Strikes and 4 balls per at-bat. 3 Outs in one inning. A strike is if it hits the rectangle strike zone, the batter swings and misses, or a foul ball. A wiffle ball is any other pitch that misses the zone with the exception that a hit batter just counts as a ball as well. No foul outs.
Three outs to retire a side, per inning.
For a complete inning, both sides must bat.

The team with the highest number of runs will be declared the winner.
In the event of a tie, the captains of each team will play rock, paper, scissors to determine the winner!

BATTING ORDER:

Pitcher
Catcher
Double Area player
Triple Area player
Home Run area player

OUTS:

The batter can strike out only if he/she swings at a pitched ball and does not foul tip the third strike.
Foul tips count as a strike for the first two strikes only. A foul tip caught behind the batter's box does not count as an out.
Fly balls caught in fair or foul territory
Ground balls caught while the ball is in motion, in fair territory.
Bunting is not allowed, and the batter cannot obtain a base on balls.

EQUIPMENT:

Official wiffle balls and bats will be used
No modifications to the ball will be allowed.
If hole is on the bottom, it must be kept open. Tape is allowed only on the handle.
Closed toed footwear must be worn
Cleats are NOT allowed.
Gloves in the field are not allowed.
Hats are not allowed to catch a ball.
You may use batting gloves when batting.
