Spreading Joy This Holiday Season

This holiday season, our community holds the power to ensure that every child in foster care experiences the warmth, comfort, and joy they truly deserve. CASA of Douglas County’s Annual PJ & Pillowcase Drive unites local families, friends, and supporters to create something extraordinary: new pajamas and handmade pillowcases for children in care. These gifts represent the love and support of an entire community.

For many children in foster care, receiving a brand-new pair of pajamas is a significant experience. It provides them with something that is entirely theirs, offering a sense of comfort and dignity. In households that include both children in care and those from the family, our drive ensures that every child receives pajamas, fostering a sense of inclusion and equality.

This event goes beyond just gifts, it’s about nurturing a sense of belonging during the holiday season. With the help of local sewing groups and the generous contributions of donors and volunteers, we provide warm, handmade pillowcases and soft pajamas to children of all ages. We also extend our care to teens in juvenile housing and detention centers, offering packages filled with cozy blankets, socks, games, and other items to brighten their holidays.

How It Works:

Pillowcases: Fabric is generously donated and sent to local sewing groups, who then create beautiful, hand-sewn pillowcases. These are returned by the end of November, ready for delivery in time for the holidays.
Pajamas & Teen Facility Coordination: CASA volunteers ensure that children in care receive warm pajamas, while teens in juvenile housing and detention centers receive special care packages filled with blankets, socks, DVDs, board games, and more.

Join us in spreading love, warmth, and joy this holiday season. Your contribution, whether big or small, will leave a lasting impact on the lives of children and teens in our community. Together, we can make this a Christmas to remember for every child. While many essentials we provide are funded by a generous community grant, there are still some items we need to make this possible. Additionally, some gifts for teens in various facilities fall outside the grant's provisions. Our goal is to raise $500 for purchasing individual and "house" gifts for these teens. Any funds raised beyond our target will directly support our mission of providing a Court Appointed Special Advocate for every Douglas County child in care.
