Story
January 2023 UPDATE: We can't express enough how thankful we are to each and every donor who has brought us as far as we have come in our fight to Keep Bonner County Rural. Neighbors have come together in a way that hasn't been common here for years! We have had some wins, some loss but we carry on. We are nearing the finish line with legal cases which we have been pursuing due to poor (and we believe illegal based on numerous facts and evidence) interpretation of the law and its intent. We are still collecting donations so as to cover these expenses and will continue to be very transparent with information regarding these cases. We will pause collecting donations once we have raised the necessary amount to cover final legal expenses. 100% of your donations are going to fight these landmark battles which will either pave the way for more mass rezoning or for we, the residents, neighbors, and friends of beautiful Bonner county to see our county maintain its glorious rural character. We hope and pray that our new county commissioners will follow the law as it was intended when it was written and that they will listen to their constituents. We will be watching closely and will be keeping those interested informed! Please feel free to email us with any questions at any time: [email protected]
We are raising money to battle to Keep Bonner County Rural. (See below how funds may be used)
We
the residents of Bonner County call on our elected officials to protect
the RURAL character of Bonner County, by following the Goals and
Objectives of our Comprehensive Land Use Plan and living up to their
legal and moral responsibility to make sure that ALL land divisions and
development have access to adequate water, wastewater disposal, fire
protection and other services to protect our safety, our natural
resources and our quality of life. We call on the Bonner County
Commissioners, the Planning and Zoning Commissioners, and the Planning
Department to STOP rubber-stamping higher density development that
undermines the rural character of our county and our agricultural and
timber heritage and to STOP changes to the zoning code that erode our
rural quality of life, contribute to poor planning practices, and
undermine our Land Use Plan.
We join with the Keep Bonner County Rural Alliance and support their efforts to restore responsible planning to Bonner County.
Funds collected may be used to help "Keep Bonner County Rural" Alliance pay for the following:
*Attorneys fees for advise and/or possible lawsuits
*Fees to help community members pay for an appeal and/or reconsideration when approval of comp plan/zone change is against the Bonner County Revised Plan and/or Comp Plan
*Newspaper advertisement to raise awareness within the community
