Hi everyone! I will be visiting South Korea for the very first time this summer to connect with my roots and learn more about the peninsula's on-going fight for national liberation. I will be meeting with worker, farmer, anti-war, and peace organizations during the trip as part of a broader goal towards the reunification of my homeland, which was divided as a consequence of the Korean War —a war that never officially ended.
I am currently a graduate student studying environmental policy and have conducted research on the extensive amounts of contamination and pollution that US military bases in South Korea have had on farm lands and residential homes. It would mean a lot to me if I could hear directly from those who continue to be affected by these bases.
As a young person who will continue to work on reunification issues in the US, I'm super excited about this opportunity to connect with other Korean organizers and learn more about our collective struggle. In order to make this trip possible, however, I'm looking for support from comrades. I need to fundraise $2,000 to support the program costs (lodging, food, travel) along with airfare. I would be super grateful if you could support my fundraiser and help in any way! Thank you <3
