As I reflect on my first year as Executive Director of Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary, my heart is full of gratitude—for the animals who remind us why we do this work, for our incredible team, staff, volunteers and for you, whose compassion makes everything possible.

This year, we turned a page in Noah’s Ark’s story. For the first time in a decade, new residents have joined our family—eight foxes, two wolves, a bear, and two extraordinary black-backed jackals named Cleo and Anubis. Their arrival marks not only new life at the sanctuary but also a powerful renewal of our mission.

Black-backed jackals are among the rarest animals in captivity—only one other organization in the country houses them. Once kept illegally as potential breeders at a fur farm, Cleo and Anubis now know what safety and care truly mean. Their presence here is a symbol of hope, resilience, and the sanctuary’s bright future.

But sanctuaries like Noah’s Ark are becoming increasingly rare. Facilities capable of caring for large numbers of rescues are dwindling as more fur farms close and other sanctuaries are forced to shut their doors due to lack of funding. Preserving Noah’s Ark is essential—not only for the animals who call it home today, but for those who will need us tomorrow.
