We have seen a sharp increase in children needing services as a result of sexual abuse and other trauma. Despite the pandemic, last year Kristi House Children's Advocacy Center served more victims — 1,940 children and their families — a growing number over all previous years. Many children we see are being solicited and groomed by online predators while using their phones and devices in what parents thought was the safety of their homes. The statistics are frightening: 1 in 5 children will be solicited for sex or explicit photos from an online “friend.”
