We're raising money towards a rehab building for injured box turtles while they are in our care. Additionally, for safety and security of all those in our care and at our sanctuary, we need to build a fence around the sanctuary. These will be one time expenses for the growth of our organization as we continue to help turtles, tortoises and provide an amazing space for community education.

Unsheltered Tortoise and Turtle was founded in 2023 by a Registered Veterinary Technician who is passionate about shelled creatures and saw the need for a turtle wildlife care rescue in the local area. Since then, we have have rehabilitated multiple turtles in need. We are a 501(c)(3) registered non-profit located in Huntersville, NC just north of Charlotte. We also take in tortoises that need a sanctuary home.

Part of our mission is community education and involvement. We provide private tours (great for home school groups) and also speak at local events/schools.

In 2025, we rehabbed over 25 box turtles, supported in connecting over 50 wildlife calls with other rehabbers, hosted 10 onsite educational tortoise tours and more. With your donation we'll be able to continue to increase these numbers in 2026!
