Kappa-Sig is partnering with non-profit Grateful Gatherings to move a family out of homelessness and crisis into a place they can finally call home.

Over one day, February 4th, the Kappa-Sig brothers will rally to move in 200+ donated furniture and household items (list here) and set up the entire apartment, then welcome the family into their new home with a “big reveal.”

Funds will go toward new mattresses, bedframes, towels, and bed linens (all must be new, by law), plus unfulfilled items from our target list.

WHY DONATE?

This project provides a hands-on volunteer opportunity for Kappa Sig to make a direct impact on a family in crisis and will be a life-changing experience not only for the family but also for the brothers involved. Additionally, this will be an excellent example for us to show Stanford University and the national Kappa Sigma community the good we can accomplish.

About the Family: Our family will be identified in mid to late January (Grateful Gatherings works with shelters and county social workers to find families ready for rehoming effort). Size ranges 4-7 members. *** We will add photos & story of our family, once we meet them)

$ Note: The typical cost to furnish a basic apartment is $5,000, however KS has already collected many items this fall to offset this amount (eg nightstands, side tables, lamps, dining table, other misc), thereby enabling us to reduce our $ goal. By law, all mattresses, bedding, towels must be brand new.
