Five years ago, before GANGGANG was known, the now-founders brought 18 artists together to create the Black Lives Matter mural on historic Indiana Avenue. To show what the new arts organization would and could do, that single moment reached hundreds of thousands of people and sparked a cultural shift in Indianapolis.

Since then, GANGGANG has worked with more than 1,000 artists, invested $7.9 million directly into the creative economy, generated $9 million in cultural and economic impact, supported 4,000 students through arts education at BUTTER, and reached over 50,000 people through cultural programs. Our stories have been shared across the world with more than one billion impressions. GANGGANG has helped shape how Indianapolis sees itself.

These numbers show what happens when a city invests in culture.

We are seeing it through students, through artists building sustainable careers, music lovers reclaiming creative history, and through neighborhoods finding healing and identity in public art.

We are seeing it in Launch Lab, a collaboration with Employ Indy where young artists like William Minion are finding direction, support, and inspiration. Exposure to GANGGANG’s mission and work helped shape his journey from aspiring muralist to the youngest artist ever to show at BUTTER Fine Art Fair. William is proof that when a city invests in culture, people see what they can become.
