This special event is produced by the Seubert, LaValle, and Cunningham families to honor a fantastic mother, sister, wife, aunt, friend, and colleague. Kelly was the “heart and soul” of the Syracuse University Men’s Basketball team for 13 years while working as Head Coach Jim Boeheim’s Administrative Assistant. Affectionately called “Mama Kel” by office interns and players, there wasn’t a day that Kelly put her needs in front of others. When Kelly lost her battle with non-small cell cancer in the summer of 2017, she left behind a legacy of kindness and compassion that impacted so many people and continues on to this day through Kelly’s Comfort Zone.

Kelly’s Comfort Zone was created to provide comfort care items to patients and their families while enduring hospital stays. The closets are located in the Pediatric Oncology unit at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital, the Oncology unit at Crouse Hospital, the Pediatric Emergency Room and the Inpatient Child / Adolescent Psychiatry Care unit at Upstate University Hospital. Items these closets provide include: hair brushes, phone chargers, snacks, deodorant, shampoo, sanitary items, ipads, and so much more.

The impact this program has on patients and their families is priceless, and we are so happy to be able to keep these closets stocked with items that help to make hospital stays more comfortable.

100% of all tournament net proceeds will be put into the Kelly’s Comfort Zone restricted fund, managed by the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation.
