Diagnosed at only three weeks old thanks to newborn screening in Tennessee, Kennedy’s family was suddenly thrust into a world no parent is ever prepared for. MPS1 (Mucopolysaccharidosis type 1) is a rare, progressive disease that affects nearly every system in the body. But it didn’t just touch Kennedy’s body — it lit a fire in her family’s soul to fight for her life.

With a mama's instinct and a whole lot of faith, Kayla made the decision to uproot their lives and move from small-town Tennessee to Minneapolis, hundreds of miles away, to give Kennedy the best chance at life through a stem cell transplant. That journey — filled with hard decisions, sleepless nights, and unshakable hope — became a turning point.

Kennedy underwent transplant at just four months old. She spent months in the hospital. She faced pain, chemo, trauma, and uncertainty. But Kennedy? She beat the odds.
