Be a Hunger Hero HRTS Giving Tuesday 2025

Help the Hunger Response Team of Sterling (HRTS) provide weekend meals for local students facing food insecurity. Your Giving Tuesday gift of $12 a week feeds a child in Sterling all school year long.

Each weekend, more than 300 students in Sterling schools receive food bags from the Hunger Response Team of Sterling (HRTS) through our Backpack Buddies program. These bags are filled with simple, kid-friendly meals that help children stay nourished, focused, and ready to learn.

The number of students who need support is growing quickly. Rising food prices, the recent government shutdown, and uncertainty around SNAP benefits have made it harder for local families to keep up. Many parents are working harder than ever, but still struggling to fill their pantries.

This Giving Tuesday, you can make an immediate impact right here in Sterling.

Our goal is to sponsor 50 students for the school year. It takes $500 to feed one child for a year, or about $12 a week. Your gift provides reliable weekend meals and peace of mind for local families who need a little extra help.

Your donation stays in Loudoun County, serving children in our Sterling schools. When you give, you are helping neighbors you may see at the grocery store, soccer field, or local restaurant.

Together, we can ensure every child has enough to eat and the hope to thrive.
