We are happy to host our fourth annual PRESENCE Gives Back Virtual 5K where we have committed to raising money to support the Adopt-A-Native-Elder program. This organization is dedicated to aiding Navajo Elders by providing essential supplies and upholding their traditional way of life amidst challenges such as displacement and cultural encroachment.

The Navajo Nation, the largest Native American nation in the U.S., covers 17,544,500 acres spanning parts of Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico. Currently, there are 850 elders in the program, with 150 in need of additional support. The funds will be used to assist in the program's efforts to deliver food, clothing, and other necessities to those in need

Our company goal is to fund Adopt-A-Native-Elder in the purchasing of food certificates and supplies. 100% of the donations will go to this project and PRESENCE will match up to $10,000.

The below tiers are based on items that the elders need:

•$200 - Firewood - A load of firewood is one of the gifts the Elders appreciate most. Most Elders live in hogans or simple homes heated only with firewood. Many Elders cook over wood. As they get older, gathering firewood becomes more difficult. Most wood must be hauled down from the mountains. During the winter months, many roads are inaccessible. A supply of firewood is vital for the Elders.

•$150 - Rainbow Food Box - includes coffee, tea, toasted oats, 2 cartons oatmeal, Cream of Wheat, cornflakes, shortening, 2 baking powders, salt, 4 cans Vienna Sausages, 2 cans pork and beans, 2 cans corn, 2 cans carrots, 2 cans mandarin oranges, applesauce, pears, 2 cans peaches, 2 cans fruit cocktail, 2 cans chicken noodle soup, 2 cases Ramen noodles, 2 boxes graham crackers, sugar, spaghetti sauce, noodles, macaroni, 20 lbs. Bluebird flour, 4 pkgs. sugar free Jello, strawberry jam, 10 lbs. potatoes, 2 cans of veggie beef stew, 2 cans evaporated milk, 2 cans green beans, corned beef, 2 boxes of pudding mixes and 3 lbs. of onions, peanut butter, 2 cases of water

•$100 - 2 Yarn Boxes - Weaving allows many Elders, usually women, to sustain themselves in their traditional way. A yarn bundle supplies enough yarn for an Elder to make a 3'x5' rug. Orders for yarn bundles will be sent out to the Elders as they are received unless it is close to a food run in which case the order will be delivered then.

•$40 - Medical Box - includes Ace bandage, Acetaminophen, chest rub, cough drops, Pepto-Bismol, antibacterial wipes, lotion, petroleum jelly, Band-Aids, 2 Ben-Gay, 3 Chapstick, triple antibiotic ointment, hand sanitizer, soap, eye drops, tooth brush, tooth paste, mouth wash

•$25 - Food Certificate - Bashas' Food Cards can be used at all Bashas grocery stores located throughout the reservation. The Gift Cards can be used to purchase food and off-the-shelf medical items.
