Welcome to the Laurel Community Center!

We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit community center in the Laurel township in northern Madison County, NC. When the Laurel Elementary School closed in 2015, a group of community members formed to save the campus and figure out a way to repurpose the space for the community. In 2019, the Laurel Community Center Organization, Inc. was deeded the property and buildings and is wholly owned by the community. Since then, the volunteer Board of Directors have continued the hard work to maintain and upgrade the facility, bring a variety of resources and programming to our rural community and be a welcoming space for all to enjoy and benefit.

Now we need your help! Thanks to many many generous donations and grants over the years, we have achieved so much, but still have many more goals and aspirations. One thing we are working to strengthen in 2026, are our community memberships. In the past we have had memberships that mostly were just financial support for the center, but this year, we want our memberships better benefit our community. This year we have developed an array of membership levels aiming to have something for everyone. Benefits of becoming a member include things such as short term rentals, free classes, and more!

Additionally, this year we have added a Business & Organizations Supporters category of support. We would greatly appreciate help spreading the word about all our membership categories and hope to gain significant community support to help us gain funding from other sources that like to see community support.
