Story
We are excited to invite you to the Lilla G. Frederick Pilot Middle School Celebrating 20 Years gala event!
This anniversary event will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 6:30-10:00 pm. We will be hosting the event at our school, located at 270 Columbia Road, Dorchester, MA. The evening will include a live DJ, musical performances, raffles, heavy appetizers, mocktails and a 20 years of Frederick PRIDE presentation.
The mission of the Lilla G. Frederick Pilot Middle School is to help our students develop to their full potential in a welcoming and nurturing environment that fosters strong achievement and positive connections to the larger community and the world they will lead. In order to achieve our mission, this year we are focused on supporting students to have a stronger sense of ownership in their learning and in our school community. Students are encouraged to use their voice in order to cultivate a safe and welcoming community where they are accountable to themselves and others. We are accomplishing this goal by creating opportunities for student leadership and social emotional relationship building to encourage students to become mediators and problem solvers.
The Lilla G. Frederick Pilot Middle School was opened in 2003 through a community organizer effort led by Project RIGHT and their director, Mrs. Lilla G. Frederick. We first opened as the New Boston Pilot Middle School and were proud to be renamed after one of our fiercest advocates, Mrs. Lilla Frederick, after she passed away in 2005. Our founders, led by Lilla G. Frederick, envisioned a diverse school that serves the whole child - mind, body and spirit - through exemplary instruction in an inspiring and community-centered learning environment.
Mrs. Lilla G. Frederick was a positive influence in Boston and Massachusetts for many years. Lilla helped found and then served as the President and Chair of Project RIGHT, Inc. (Rebuild and Improve Grove Hall Together). She was also instrumental in the designing of our middle school.
Our namesake, Lilla Frederick, was dedicated to supporting our community. She once said, “Our children need love, guidance and champions. That is why I am present. That is why we must be present.” We are asking you to be present for our students and entire school community. Please help Ms. Frederick’s legacy live on in the lives of our children by supporting us in providing them with rich learning opportunities and experience.
We are thrilled to honor Ms. Frederick and her legacy of 20 continuous years of serving the students and families of Boston.
