About the Lynne Mitchell Foundation

The Lynne Mitchell Foundation (LMF) is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to higher education for Jamaican students.

Founded in 2012 by Marlene Mitchell Gordon in honor of her mother, Lynne Mitchell, LMF continues Lynne’s legacy of compassion and belief in the power of education to change lives.

Since its inception, LMF has invested more than USD $750,000 in scholarships and educational support for Jamaican students.

What began as a grassroots effort to remove barriers to primary education has grown into a national scholarship program helping young people pursue university and postgraduate studies at home and abroad.

Since 2023, through its Memorial and Aspire Scholarship programs, LMF has awarded 83 scholarships, including a record 42 scholarships in 2025 totaling USD $131,500. These awards empower exceptional students to achieve their academic goals and build brighter futures for themselves, their families, and their communities.
