Snowball was one of them.

He came to us from our county shelter where he was due to be euthanized, not for aggression or illness, but for extreme fear. He was carrying wounds that couldn’t be seen on an x-ray. From the moment he arrived, our team made a commitment not just to save him, but to help him heal.

That commitment meant months of patient, hands-on work, behavioral training, enrichment, medical care, and a team who showed up for him every single day with consistency and compassion. Then, something incredible happened, we found him a foster home…

In a quieter, calmer environment, Snowball finally began to exhale. He started to play, relax, and let himself be loved. The personality buried beneath his fear — joyful, funny, and full of life — was there all along.

He just needed someone willing to wait for him.

Sometimes being a lifeline means stepping in, not just for pets, but for the people who love them.

Ghia and Bert are a bonded pair of dogs, deeply connected and inseparable.

When their mom made the courageous decision to leave a dangerous relationship, she refused to leave them behind. Her abuser, knowing how much they meant to her, abandoned them miles away in a remote location—hoping to control her and hurt her into staying.

She searched desperately until she found them.

But even then, she faced an impossible reality, the only refuge she could find wouldn’t allow Bert and Ghia. Until she could find a place that welcomed all of them, she still couldn’t leave her situation behind. She wasn’t just searching for shelter, she was searching for a place where her whole family could stay together.

Then she found Lost Our Home.

Through our Temporary Care Program, Ghia and Bert were given a safe, loving place to stay, together, while their mom focused on rebuilding her life and finding stable housing..

The pair were never separated
They remained safe
They were cared for with compassion every day

That care cost $1,700 per pet for a 90-day stay ($3,400 for this bonded pair)—and like all our Temporary Care families, she never paid a cent. She never had to choose between her safety and the pets she loved. She paid nothing and kept her family whole.

Because your pets are family and should never be a barrier to safety and care.

And then there are the moments no one can prepare for.

Tinky Winky was only four months old when he suddenly stopped breathing.

Our team sprang into action. We revived him, stabilized him, and rushed him for emergency treatment.

After two cardiac ultrasounds, he was finally given the all clear and the chance to live a long, healthy life.

A future he almost never had.

Saving one tiny kitten required extraordinary care and significant medical resources.

But we would make the same choice every time, because being a lifeline means giving vulnerable pets every chance to survive, thrive, and experience the happy, healthy future Tinky Winky nearly lost.

What It Means to Be a Lifeline
