We'll honor our volunteers, celebrate the League's achievements, and hear from Pat Hardy, a former Texas State Board of Education member, who will share her experiences guiding state public education policy for over 20 years.

Members will vote on changes to the bylaws, program, budget, and elect our board leaders. Check back here on April 25th with more information on voting.

Special Guest Speaker, Pat Hardy

Pat Hardy: Education Advocate Always Serving With Her Heart.

With 22 years of experience serving District 11 on the State Board of Education; 30 years as a high school history and geography teacher, and five years as a social studies coordinator, Pat Hardy has devoted her entire life to public education in Texas. She has always been—and continues to be—a powerful advocate for students and teachers.

For 18 years, Pat served on the Permanent School Fund, leading to assure that billions of dollars were being given to public schools and, in doing so, reducing the tax burden on local taxpayers.

Her top priority before leaving office was to update the Social Studies Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). TEKS for each subject are updated every 10years. Her hands-on classroom experience helped inform her decisions on what content is appropriate and engaging to students depending on their grade levels. Social Studies is one of the four core courses in the statestandards, and she strove to assure all is factual, balanced, respectful, and appreciative of our history and culture.

Pat was defeated in the 2024 Republican Primary, when pro-voucher supporters rallied against her because of her anti-voucher position.
