But Lark & Owl Booksellers needs your help to continue serving our beloved community and we are seeking contributions to assist us with our next phase. . . expanding our reach!

It is our great honor to be YOUR local indie bookstore, to share experiences with you from laughter to tears through conversations around books. We have endeavored to be a meeting place, a second home and a welcome haven for EVERYONE in our community. We have done this through countless book club discussions, author events, dance parties, trivia nights, non-profit fundraisers and reading challenges (just to name a few). Our staff is dedicated to continuing this work, but we need more resources to be sustainable. We have been receiving sobering industry news about weekly indie bookstore closures across the country, and we don't want to be one of those. That means we need to boost local sales, as well as provide shopping opportunities to our fans across the country.

We are thrilled to announce that we are getting a website makeover that enables online shopping from our store inventory, including books, gifts and Lark & Owl custom merchandise. That’s right, we will be able to ship all our goodies directly to your door with the aid of our outstanding booksellers! We’ve been working on this for a while now with our tech-y people and it is almost ready to launch. (Sign up for our newsletter to stay in the know!)

This represents an exciting new opportunity for us. But to do this with the utmost customer service that you are accustomed to, we will need to expand our inventory for sales through multiple platforms and will need to boost our infrastructure to make it feasible. Inventory is a big purchase, and we’d like to start off with a broad selection for online shoppers while also boosting our in-store inventory for local customers. In order to place substantial book orders from multiple publishers, we need a chunk of change. We’re seeking $50,000 in contributions to be able to offer the latest books you want to read, the best retail and gift items, plus our super fun Lark & Owl branded merchandise that you love so much.

Lark & Owl miraculously survived the pandemic after being open only one year, but we are still suffering the after effects of a depleted financial cushion, increased cost of goods and rising rates on rent and taxes. Plus, foot traffic in the store has slowed from the extreme heat last summer and the current construction projects around our store. It is our hope that we can provide a Lark & Owl experience for customers beyond our yellow doors. The broadening of our audience will generate additional profits to keep doing all the great things we already do, plus indulge even more creative ideas for our bookish community!
