Join @plantingpeoplegrowingjustice as we inspire leaders and readers! During Black Philanthropy Month which runs throughout the month of August, we aim to raise $10,000 to support our nationally recognized Leaders are Readers program.

Your funds will help Black children find joy in reading and discover their leadership potential! Through author visits, read-alouds, and diverse book donations, we bring positive messaging and relatable characters to young people of all ages. To date, our Leaders are Readers program has inspired over 6,000 young readers and donated over 19,000 diverse books.

During August's Black Philanthropy Month, your donation will go twice as far! All donations will be matched dollar for dollar by a donor who wishes to remain anonymous for an additional $10,000.

Donations of any amount are welcome! Every $10 inspires a Black child with a new book to call their own and helps to unveil their potential.

Black Philanthropy Month's theme in 2023 is “Black Love in Action.” It celebrates love as a necessary foundation for lasting social change. Inspired by the writings of the late scholar and activist, bell hooks, it spotlights the core meaning of philanthropy as a love of all humanity. That includes the power of self-love within the Black community.

Each donation during Black Philanthropy Month goes beyond financial considerations. It speaks to the value you place on racial, social, economic, gender, and environmental justice as well. It is a way of saying universal human rights matter.
