Our Story: Legacy of Love 805

Legacy of Love 805 was born from a deep conviction: every dog deserves a second chance, and every person deserves the healing bond that only animals can provide.

For years, our team worked tirelessly in the rescue community—answering urgent calls from shelters, pulling dogs moments before euthanasia, and opening their own homes to animals with nowhere else to go. What started as individual acts of compassion quickly grew into a movement. In December 2024, Legacy of Love 805 officially became a nonprofit, uniting volunteers, adopters, and supporters across California under one shared mission: to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome high-risk dogs in need, while honoring the powerful second chances they create in our own lives.

At Legacy of Love 805, we focus on the underdogs, the ones overlooked, misunderstood, or in need of extra care. Many of our dogs come from overcrowded shelters, euthanasia lists, or situations of neglect. Others arrive with medical needs or behavioral challenges that make them less likely to be adopted. Instead of turning away, we lean in. Through veterinary care, training, foster support, and love, we help these dogs heal and rediscover trust.

But our story is bigger than dogs alone. Legacy of Love was founded on the belief that rehabilitation is mutual, that when we save them, they also save us. Our work is deeply tied to recovery and second chances for people as well. Many of our team members, fosters, and adopters have found purpose, healing, and strength through the dogs in our care. Together, we’re not just creating homes for dogs; we’re building a community of hope.

Since our founding, Legacy of Love 805 has rescued and rehomed hundreds of dogs, each with a story, a name, and a family waiting for them. Every adoption, every wagging tail, and every life saved is a testament to the power of compassion and persistence.
