With spring in the air across Louisville, the library is bustling with plans for How-To Festival, Summer Reading, and plenty of outdoor programs! But just a few months ago, Louisville Free Public Library staff traversed snow-covered streets to host the first ever Books & Brews 502: Jigsaw Puzzle Race at Holsopple Brewery. Bundling inside early to set up, they discovered a room already packed with dozens of people waiting to claim the title as Jigsaw Master!

“Folks helped us carry the boxes of puzzles in and the room just kept filling up,” says Library Assistant, Meagan Vance-Wemes. “On a random Monday in February, we had 49 people show up to do puzzles, say hi to library workers, pick out a free book, and collect a stamp on their Books & Brews passport.”

While life can feel like a jigsaw puzzle sometimes, the public library serves as a welcoming table to sort the pieces, spark joy, and make sense of the bigger picture – no matter the season.

Thanks to donors like you, thousands of neighbors make connections at the Louisville Free Public Library every single day. Last year alone, Library Foundation donors helped provide over $1 million to enhance library programs, resources, and outreach efforts.
