Local Sounds & Local Causes!

All of our events at Little City Concerts are steered by the artists we present -- musicians who live and work around our community -- building a program that highlights a cause they believe in. We then find an as-local-as-possible nonprofit that works on that cause and donate 50% of our ticket sales for that event to them.

Why Falls Church?

Our founder, composer Stephen Gorbos, moved with his family to Falls Church City, nicknamed "the Little City," in the summer of 2022. He and his family fell in love with their awesomely supportive community and wanted to give back, making something that contributed to the cultural landscape of Falls Church.

How long have we been doing this?

For the past two years, Little City Concerts has worked with stunning performers and worthy nonprofits to bring local sounds and local causes together in Falls Church City. From our very first event in November 2023 with Balance Campaign and EcoAction Arlington, through our season 3 opener this past September with taiko drum ensemble Nen Daiko and Hamkae Center, we've tried to be an organization you can depend on for engaging and educational experiences.

What do we need?

This year, we're trying to fundraise $4500 over the next several weeks with our 2025-2026 Fundraising Drive. This is our first time running our fundraising drive on our own: as of fall 2025, we are officially a nonprofit in the eyes of the IRS, which means that your donations are now not only fully tax deductible to the extent permitted by law, but that more of that donation goes directly to our needs than ever before. If you've donated to us in the past, you also know that we love to say thank you with Little City Concerts shwag (stickers, tote bags, t-shirts). Check out our donation levels to see the corresponding thank you package that comes with it.

Hiring fantastic local artists
Free community events: Farm Day in October with a historic keyboard instrument at the Cherry Hill Farmhouse; and a concert at the Mary Riley Styles Library in April with the 9th Street String Quartet.
Our second commission! The premiere will be in Spring 2027 on Season 4. Did you see the first work we commissioned by drummer/composer Keith Butler, Jr? It was a brand new evening-length work for his quintet Seysew called Rest/Imagine: themes for a bloodline, which we presented in performance on April 5th, 2025.
Free admission for children and students to all events
Low-cost tickets. Where else can you spend only $25 for world-class music and make a donation to a worthy cause at the same time?

9/20 started with a bang, welcoming Nen Daiko, a taiko drum group from Fairfax, VA, paired with Hamkae Center
Mary Voutsas and friends follow on 11/22 with a program for Transgender Day of Remembrance, paired with Safe Space NoVA
Bridge Voices performs David Lang's Pulitzer Prize winning work The Little Match Girl Passion on 2/21, paired with Homestretch
Arlington's 9th Street Quartet on 4/18, paired with Second Story, presents Sounds of Home at 250. With the idea of the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in mind, this program explores the idea of belonging through music, highlighting some of the diverse voices and histories that shape current American life.
