The Locke School of Arts & Engineering (P.S. 185) is a diverse and warm community of families and teachers located in vibrant Harlem, NYC. An an InsideSchools.org "Noteworthy" pick and International Baccalaureate candidate, we pride ourselves on our progressive, project-based education model and a strong enrichment program, with full-time teachers for art, music, gym, hydroponics/garden science, and engineering in our Lego Lab.

The PTA supports enrichment and educational programs that benefit every student. Together we are building equitable access to the rich learning and cultural resources of New York City, supporting our beloved teachers, and growing community around our mostly low-income student body. This school year, we are focused on funding:

Field trips ($6,000)
Cool Culture free admission program for 3K, PK, and K families ($3,500)
Classroom mini-grant program for teachers/staff ($3,000)
Graduation celebrations & the Fifth Grade Celebration Trip ($6,000)
Community events like Fall Festival, Thanksgiving Gratitude Breakfast, Family Paint Night, and Spring Fair ($8,700)
Recess equipment enhancement both inside (indoor recess carts) and outside (sports equipment, storage) ($1,400)
Outdoor learning initiatives and classroom space ($3,600)
Teacher and staff appreciation ($2,500)

Your donations pay directly for these programs. Every donation counts. No amount is too small. Please donate today.

We also highly suggest looking into whether your employer might offer a corporate match for any donation you make. You can check for your company here on Charity Navigator. We are a 501c3 organization and can hook you up with whatever information (like our EIN) that your employer might need. For many employees, this is an opportunity to snag free easy money for our school with little additional effort!
