Locked Up for LIFT-UP

I have been a board member for LIFT-UP for the past 6 years. I committed to this organization with the recognition that they are addressing one of the most basic of our human needs: hunger. At LIFT-UP, our mission is to provide equitable food security for individuals and families in our communities. Every day, we work to ensure that our neighbors have access to the nutritious food they need to thrive. Food insecurity doesn't always look the way we imagine. It affects working families, seniors on fixed incomes, children, and neighbors who are doing everything they can to make ends meet. Many are just one unexpected expense away from having to make difficult choices between groceries, housing, utilities, and other necessities. And as we head into the holiday season, the need becomes even more urgent. While many of us look forward to gathering around tables filled with food, other families in our community are wondering how they will afford their next meal, much less a special holiday dinner.
