Help Lucky Bikescontinue to empower youth with equitable access to cycling and the wonders of the outdoors.

We several programs including the following:

Adventure Rides We provide adventure-filled, daylong and after-school mountain bike outings for small groups of youth, ages 10 and up. Trips are led by our experienced Ride Leaders who, with the help of skilled adult volunteers, provide positive encouragement throughout the challenging day on the trail. Kids learn basic mountain biking skills, bike safety, and riding techniques. In 2023, we had 350 new shredders is the Ride program
Earn a Bike- Geared for middle school and high school-aged kids, this STEM-based course, aligned with Colorado state standards, teaches participants about the bicycle as a simple machine—how it works, how to repair it and how to ride safely. Instructors place an emphasis on teaching valuable life skills along the way. Upon completion of the multi-session course, graduates receive their own bike, a new helmet, a lock, and tool kit. For 2023 we had 120 Learn to Earn youth got with fresh bikes.
Bike Shop Internship- Begins with a 3-month paid internship program that allows youth, 14-22 years-old, to gain valuable, on-the-job retail and service training at our social enterprise bike shop, Lucky Bikes Re-Cyclery. At the completion of their internship, students have the option to continue with a full year paid apprenticeship. Students rotate every 12 weeks to a new focus. Areas include retail management, bike mechanics, outdoor recreation leadership and youth program facilitation. In 2023, we had 22 Youth@Work interns.
High School Mountain Bike Club - The club meets 1-2 times a week to learn new skills and enjoy equitable access to cycling. The majority of student-athletes are from the Sheridan School District and Southwest Denver. 18 Riders in the High School Mtn Bike team.

We want kids to:
- Have fun with a new activity.
- Feel included in the community around cycling.
- Find a sense of independence, and continue to participate in cycling into adulthood.
- To benefit at all ages from the physical and mental health improvements that come with remaining active, particularly outdoors.
- To gain confidence in trying new things and end up trying other outdoor recreational activities.
