To meet our community’s evolving needs, RISE is innovating childcare through solutions co-created with the mothers we serve. In December 2024, we joined forces with Black Mama’s Village, a grassroots organization dedicated to strengthening support systems for Black mothers and their families, to offer drop-in childcare at the newly established Village Place. The program was a huge success and now we are offering drop-in care regularly for mothers in Austin.

Each $14 gift will cover one hour of childcare for toddlers and infants.

Existing childcare options fail to meet this critical need for affordability, reliability, accessibility, and cultural affirmation. By investing in Black mothers’ health and well-being they were able to accept jobs requiring non-traditional work hours, engage in professional growth and educational activities to uplevel credentials to qualify for better jobs, and access much-needed respite care.

RISE works to dismantle inequity in early childhood education through culture building, curriculum, training, coaching, and community partnerships that support the development of more liberatory early learning environments. We are working to ensure that:

Working parents have financial and geographic access to high-quality, culturally affirming child care.
Early learning teachers and school leaders have the financial resources they need to support their own economic well-being and create stability for the families they serve.
Early learning teachers and leaders have the professional support they need to cultivate inclusive, anti-racist learning environments that are supportive of all children, no matter their race, ethnicity, religion, or socio-economic status.
All children are thriving emotionally and academically and are on track to succeed in K12 schools and beyond.

Since our founding in 2018 by Dr. Choquette Hamilton due to her experience with an unjust early childhood system, we have been working closely in the Travis County Community through professional development for early childhood teachers and administrators, public advocacy, and drop-in childcare for mothers in communities that have been historically under funded and marginalized from equitable and affordable childcare and early-childhood education.
