We are pleased to announce that the sixth March Arts Marathon is now open for registration on our new platform! During the 2025 March Arts Marathon, our talented and dedicated writers, artists and sponsors raised approximately $82,864 and in the process created a unique and vital creative community.

We hope that those of you who participated in the 2025 Marathon will return in 2026 with new work. Last year, we had 67 artists participating and fundraising. We are spreading our outreach and are also hoping to grow that number.

We’re looking for creative artists at every level – first-time, long-established, and everything in between – to help CVRAN raise funds for the asylum seekers and Afghan refugees we are supporting in Central Vermont.

Individual writers and artists who wish to participate will commit to a daily creative practice six days each week in March. Poems, essays, non-fiction, stories, sketches, paintings, photographs, fabric art, multimedia, music, and multi-genre pieces – anything is possible. In turn the artists’ sponsors will commit to supporting the artists in their artistic practice and will receive copies of the artists’ work over email, Instagram, or in a blog six days each week in March. Writers and artists also have the option to participate as a team of up to four people.

All money raised will go toward housing, living expenses, legal fees and other support services for the asylum seekers and refugees whom CVRAN assists in Central Vermont. Some of those support services include furniture and household supplies, transportation, English language practice, shopping and budgeting, a matching car fund, and friendship.

Information for Artists

Choose your genre or medium: Write a poem, draft a micro story or essay, take a photograph, make a sketch, paint a watercolor, write a song. Or perhaps mix it up, writing a poem one day and doing a drawing the next. Or do a mixed media or craft project. Or commit to work on an ambitious project. The work you share can also be previous projects, sharing with your sponsors how they were produced. The form your creative practice will take is up to you.
Share your fundraising page: Share your fundraising link with your prospective sponsors and get them hyped for the marathon and your art. You can fundraise and get donors all the way through the end of March!
Share your work. Over the 30 days of the March Arts Marathon you will be expected to share your creative work, with some commentary about your process, thinking and/or plans, with your sponsors by email at least 6 days per week throughout the month. We know this can be a lot so we encourage you to share as often as you think you can. The spirit of the event is creating art, sharing it and raising money for CVRAN and so we will leave it up to you. It should be a fun challenge!
Show us your progress. We will create an exhibit of participants’ work at the end of the March Arts Marathon. You’ll be invited to submit pieces for the online exhibit. Of course, exhibiting is optional.
Artist virtual meetup: We will host at least one, possibly two, virtual artist meetups on Zoom to discuss how our month is going, challenges, goals, surprises, etc.
