Please arrive at the beginning of that timeframe, especially if you have more than one animal participating. When you arrive, we will have you review the paperwork that you previously filled out to ensure everything is correct. Once you sign and date the paperwork, we will take your pup or cat to the back to receive their microchip and/or vaccine. You will receive a copy of your paperwork stating that your animal received their vaccine and/or microchip. Additionally, please make sure that your dogs are on a leash at all times and that your cats are in a carrier of some kind.

ANIMALS BEING MICROCHIPPED:

Your furry friend may be a little sore after they receive their microchip. The chip is injected between their shoulder blades on their back. You will receive a copy of your pet’s microchip number on your paperwork, as well as instructions on how to register your chip. Registering your chip is very important, so please do not skip this step! We will have volunteers present and happy to help you register your fur-kid. When you arrive in line, we will scan each animal to make sure they do not already have a chip. If the animal is already chipped, we will provide the chip information for you.

FOR DOGS RECEIVING THE DAPP VACCINE:

Please continue your pup’s normal routine in the morning. They are able to eat and drink before & after the vaccine. We will take each dog’s temperature before the vaccine, and if they have a fever we will be unable to administer the vaccine. Due to this, we recommend not exercising before the appointment since this can spike their temperature as well. Your dog may be a little sore and a little tired afterwards. We will have a vaccine reaction sheet in your pup’s medical folder for you to look over while you wait, or when you get home.

ABOUT FRIENDS FOR LIFE:

Arizona Friends for Life began in 1993 – then known as Citizens for Tempe Strays. Within two years our organization had a solid volunteer base, a dedicated board of directors, and was handling hundreds of adoptions per year.

The growth and success prompted the name change to Friends for Life Animal Sanctuary – a name that better described our organization, since we make a lifetime commitment to the animals (animals adopted must be returned to us if for any reason the adoptive environment is not working out, and all microchips list Friends for Life as the primary contact in the event the animal is lost, or surrendered at another facility).

In 1996, after only three short years, Friends for Life was able to lease three buildings in downtown Gilbert – a place that animals call “home” until they find a family of their very own.

In 2010, after re-evaluating our priority of rescue and adoption, and not being a sanctuary facility, Friends for Life Animal Sanctuary changed our name to Friends for Life Animal Rescue. In 2013, Friends for Life was able to purchase all three buildings, so all of our adopted animals are now guaranteed to always have a home to come back to!

In 2017, we broke ground on a brand new facility, designed specifically for the animals and volunteers. We moved into our new “home” in February of 2018.

Friends for Life Animal Rescue is dedicated to the homeless and stray animals in our community. These animals do not have an advocate and will likely suffer starvation, illness, or injury as they try to survive alone. Animals on the street are often unaltered, reproducing and creating even more unwanted animals. Friends for Life prefers to get to the source of the problem through spaying and neutering all animals we take in, and educating the public about the importance of altering their animals.
