Dear Friends & Family,

As some of you may know, I have had a recurrence of breast cancer last Fall after 11 years! My fight against this insidious disease continues.

I can finally “see the light” at the end of my darkest days: my radiation treatments were successfully completed in August. My second course of chemo will be my last protocol and finishes May 2022.
Those of you who drove me last winter to Chemotherapy and delivered meals to my doorstep, I am forever in your debt. I will never forget your collective kindnesses!

Thank you all for being such amazing friends and supportive siblings and in-laws during this isolating Covid time.

Most everyone of us knows someone near and dear to us who has battled with cancer.

Many of you continue to ask how you can help, so it is with a wider lens that I am asking you all to consider in October donating now to SBCNS in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

I am on the Board of Directors of the nonprofit called SAIL BEYOND CANCER North Shore (SBCNS). I believe strongly in our mission providing patients and their families respite time together sailing on the North Shore waters . SBCNS offers families & caregivers meaningful memories from the day to day challenges of being ill. SBCNS sails from May through October and accept cancer patient nominations throughout the year.

We free those being held hostage by cancer by harnessing the healing powers of wind, water and sail.

I have felt first-hand what it is like to leave cancer ashore for three hours: totally life altering! Our mission at Sail Beyond Cancer North Shore is to provide relief from the sickening protocols of cancer while affording families uninterrupted time to be together.

Although our sails are ‘free’, the typical ‘cost’ of each sailing excursion is $500.00. Each sail is a private sail and is run by two volunteers - a Captain and 1st Mate and they guide the "nominee" (aka patient) and their 5 additional guests out on the water under sail for 3 hours.

My goal is to provide 10 cancer patients with these life-rejuvenating private sails to help others afflicted by any cancer, find new courage & create lasting memories aboard our SBCNS sailing vessels.
