Over the 52 years since Historic Boulder, Inc. was founded, the organization has been directly and indirectly responsible for the preservation of over 1,300 legacy buildings...structures that, every day, assert the unique spirit of our community. May is National and Local Preservation Month and to celebrate, Historic Boulder offers free tours and presentations to highlight the history and unique architecture in our community.

Boulder is known as a hotbed of Mid-Century Modern architecture. Scientists and university professors were the early adopters of modern architecture for their homes. The highest concentration of these people occurred west of the CU campus at the base of Flagstaff mountain. Their buildings are among the most innovative in the city. The influence has been felt for 75 years, helping to create the environment that has supported the emergence of Boulder as one of the most progressive communities in the nation.
